How do you match an amp with a sub-woofer?

I'd like find a good small amp to power a single 06S8L7 8" Solo-Baric
Do I need to use the same brand amp and speaker for the best sound?
How important is the max watt output?
Should I just match the RMS wattage, and how closely should these numbers match?

Any advise would be appreciated.

Match the watts RMS of the sub or a little over if need be (no more than 50 watts RMS) to the amp. Brand doesn't matter. The amp should be CEA-2006 compliant.

With the right amplifier would one solo x 12 inch be better or 2 12 inch l7's?

looking to add a set up to a 01 jeep grand cherokee limited and was curious if anyone had any input on a good system. I was looking at a 12 inch solox or 2 12 inch l7's but wasn't sure which would be the best bet. If i had the right amplifer for the sub woofers and the right box with adequate cubic inches. any comments would help thanks.
looking to have clarity and low bass, since the subs will be inside the passenger compartment you will be able to hear them very well.
