Subwoofer Speaker

Can I place a speaker directly on top of the subwoofer or will that damage the speaker?
I want to place my front right speaker on my subwoofer, and use the subwoofer as a stand. Is that ok or will that damage my speaker?
If it's a typical mass market poorly constructed sub then you do want some means of keeping it from sliding around. If it's a properly designed DIY sub with opposing drivers and is constructed properly with the proper bracing etc then you could stand a nickle on its edge on top of the sub and it wouldn't fall over even as the house shakes apart. A sub bouncing around and vibrating things off it isn't a sign of it being powerful it's a sign of being poorly constructed. That vibrating box generates huge distortion.
So it depends on what you have for a sub. Crank up some bass and put your hand on it to see how much vibration you feel. Look at the way its constructed, how much it weighs etc and you can know right away just by looking at it. A good 12" or 15" sub will need to be a couple hundred pounds in weight at the least. If it doesn't use opposing drivers it will still have some vibration but probably not enough to be a problem using it as a speaker stand. With opposing drivers and with proper construction it will have virtually no vibration.

Home Theater Design: Optimum Speaker Placement
The standard treatment is the theater, of course, a screen at one end Room with a center speaker, a speaker on each side of the screen, two surround speakers provide left and right, and sometimes a speaker Surround back provide. If you organize your room this way, it is very likely to call your home theater and speaker placement is quite simple for you. The location is ideal from the front speakers the same height, usually slightly above or slightly below the screen and speakers at least 60 cm above the heads of viewers.
The front center should ideally be in the same situation as the screen, the left and right front speakers should be placed approximately 25 degrees to the left and right of the address to the audience, and the same distance spectators, the surround left and surround right should be 90 degrees to the left and right of that direction and, again, at the same distance from spectators, and surround back, as its name suggests, should be directly behind the audience. A subwoofer if it is used in theory can be placed anywhere in the room.
For many people, including myself in this, the design of your house is such that it allows a comfortable room this way. After all, if you're very lucky, very likely that contains the computer room is also your home theater room, and do not want not be dominated by a screen. You can not call your home theater as such. To resolve this problem, you must draw a diagram the scale of your room. Give your investment screens for the development and supply seats (sofas and chairs), and determine where people will sit and watch movies, and the direction in which they are looking for.
The next thing you have to do is draw a line directly to each viewer's screen that indicates the direction in which each viewer is confronted. Then, draw a line angle of 25 degrees to the left of line drawn in the viewer for each viewer, until it meets the wall. If the speaker is placed anywhere where in the line, then this is the right angle for the appropriate viewer. You must determine a point along the wall near the position that these lines meet wall. Usually, will be located almost half of the collection lines. You have identified below, the introduction of home theater speaker for optimum front left.
Now you have to do the same thing, but the angle lines 25 degrees to the right of the direction in which viewers face. With these lines, you can identify the best location for the speaker home theater front right.
Repeat for lines angle left 90 degrees, 90 degrees clockwise and 180 degrees (the extension of the line of sight to the screen, but in reverse). With these lines, you can identify the best location for the home theater speaker left speaker and right rear surround speaker.
Ideally, the front left and right must be placed equidistant from each viewer, as the left and right surround speakers. This can not generally be reached, it must be approached. Much more important are the angles of speaker placement each viewer, which should ideally be more about 15 degrees away from the optimum position. best home theater speaker placement depends on minimizing the angle error of each viewer.
Your subwoofer can be placed theoretically at any point of the room, because the ear is not easy to determine the direction of low frequency sounds. However, it is possible that the position of the subwoofer in different parts of the room change the sounds of the subwoofer, Frequency can be amplified, while others can be reduced, especially if the subwoofer is placed near a wall or corner of the room. We suggest you experiment with the placement of your subwoofer until you find a job you love.
Some other considerations can affect the position where you place the speakers. You do not want your speakers in a position that is blocking access regularly walk through, for example, too close to a door. In addition, if you do not magnetically shielded front speakers, which should not be placed too close to a cathode ray tube (old style) TV, it will make the color purity of the screen is touched. This does not apply to LCD or plasma TV. Using this method, you can successfully place your speakers so you can be proud of your home theater and your room at the same time!
Always remember that the idea behind cinema system house is set so that you can watch movies at most. Some people lose sight of that goal. Whatever you do with your home theater design, not to fall into the trap of over analyzing the results. Begin to enjoy the movies!

Acoustic Audio 10 inch home theatre powered subwoofer use speaker wire or subwoofer cable?
Acoustic Audio 10 inch home theatre powered subwoofer use speaker wire or subwoofer cable?
Use a long RCA cable.
If you use speaker wire - you have to run wires from the left/right outputs to the sub, then more wire from the sub to the left/right speakers.
Then you have to tell your receiver your left/right speakers are LARGE and you do not have a sub to get things to work.
A single long RCA cable is simpler. You can even make your own with pre-terminated CATV coax and some "F-to-RCA-Male" adapters from Radio Shack. Subwoofer signals work fine and do not need any kind of higher end RCA cable.
