Media Streamer vs. HTPC - What is the best?

I want to buy a new home theater in my living room. I am buying a new TV Supports LCD Full HD (1080p). Which option would you recommend and why? 1) buy a DVD player and media streamer, and connect the input of TV, speakers, DVD player and Media Streamer to a receiver (which I also buy). 2) Building a HTPC, which should include a Capture Card TV, sound card and a remote power supply (for the speakers is connected directly to the PC), a DVD drive and a graphics card that have HDMI output. Thus not need to buy a DVD player or receiver, and all would be well the HTPC. Please be specific in your response. If you have, for example, a means of improving the HTPC, or a detail that I forgot, please let me know!
