Physics of building a rubber band powered car?

I have to build a rubber band powered car and write a one page paper on the physics behind it. I have to write about force, power, energy, work, speed, acceleration, distance and time. How would I do that? Pointers anyone? Please help. Thank you!

I can give you a bit of an explanation of what you'll have to talk about...

Force is, well, force. You'll get that force from stretching the rubber band over a distance. Note that the further the band is stretched, the more force it creates.

Power has components of force, distance and time. A force applied over a distance during a time will give you power. Force (Newtons) x Distance (Meters) / Time (Seconds) = Power (Watts)

Energy is an ability to exert power...energy is stored in the rubber band.

Work is applying a force over a distance (work done over time is power).

Speed should be pretty self explanatory. It relates to power but only when you involve mass, which it doesn't appear you need to worry about.

Acceleration also involves mass. A force applied to a mass produces an acceleration, and acceleration is a change in speed.

If you're struggling with the concept of distance and time, you've got more to worry about than a science project.

So, the rubber band will apply a force, probably to a spindle which will create a torque, which will transfer to the wheels and produce another force at the point where the wheels contact the ground.

This force will cause an acceleration (increase in speed). This force, applied over whatever distance the vehicle traveled has done work, generated power and released stored energy.

That should get you going, I think.

Does the idea of a car powered by water too good to be true? At a time when gas prices are exorbitant, you could think.

This reduces the amount of crops for food consumption and increases the cost of corn and soybeans, while at the same time the loss of agricultural land available to grow food for consumption.

Hydrogen Powered Car has long been a highly sought after, it would be extremely environmentally friendly, that hydrogen is a resource renewable. However, the problem has long been that hydrogen is highly flammable and has not, until recently, a way to store safely in large quantities. So what has changed?

In early 1990, a gentleman by the name Stan Meyer was reported that hydrogen is stored and in great quantity in the form of water. He realized that if he found a way to release hydrogen already in the water that the hydrogen could be burned in an internal combustion engine as a fuel source. This source of fuel not only burns cleaner, resulting in cleaner emissions, but would be renewable because once burned hydrogen escapes vapor. The end result is a car powered by water. Because water can be stored locally in the car and hydrogen separated in the application, and burn if necessary.

How does a hydrogen-powered car work?

I mean what are the processes that are going on inside a hydrogen-powered car? Like first there is a combustion process then etc. I can't find an article on how it works in the internet. Links and sources are very appreciated.

A hydrogen fuel-cell-powered car works by reacting the hydrogen with oxygen in a fuel cell to generate electricity. The electricity is then used to turn an electrical traction motor to move the car. The Honda FCX Clarity uses this system.
