Ported sub box question?

I'm building an enclosure for a 15" cerwin vega sub. Their suggested air space was 2.0 Cubic feet for a ported enclosure with the port being 4" diameter and 8" long. My question is can I use that port size no matter what dimensions I build my box to and still have it tuned same?

Oh and does it mAtter where on the box I put the port?

yes as long as the box volume is 2.0 CF + port displacement your good.

does not matter where you put it but put it 4 inches away from the inner wall of the box and from all dimensions of the box. use 3/4" mdf and do it right, they sell enclosure carpet at best buy too for a professional look, good luck

My ported box has less bass than sealed, and is causing sub to bottom out?

I have a legacy predator 1600 watt 8" system in MTX ported boxes with tweeters, if i cover the port i get more bass and the bass can be turned up more because the sub doesnt bottom out as quickly! I though you were supposed to get more bass with ported, And whats more one of my subs blew after running 5 days in the new boxes!

That's not true. Ported doesn't mean more bass. Different subs are designed to work in different boxes. Look up you sub and see what the manufacturer recomends. It should not only tell you ported or sealed, but how much room inside the box.
