What is the difference between a plasma screen and LCD screen?

The LCD TV in my room has the same screen on the LCD monitor computer I'm using right now has. It is a plasma TV in the living room and sit on the screen and looks completely different.

Technology used to create the image on LCD and plasma is different, therefore, why the image would be very different indeed, there are pros and cons of each technology.
