Component Speaker replacement without replacing factory amplifier?

I am thinking about replacing my factory front component speakers with better ones. My Sonata LX 2006 already has an amplifier (I have no idea how much power). The question is should I also upgrade the amplifier to drive the new speakers??? I have had opposite opinions from audio car guys at Best Buy and Circuit City, one told me replacing the factory speakers will most definetively improve the sound quality, However, I won't be able to play them to their loudness capacity (which is fine, currently I listen to my stereo to no more than half way). The second one told me that factory amplifiers are cheap and I should install a new amplifier otherwise I will not noticed a difference, plus underpowered speakers are a bad idea. Any Thoughts?
Anyone has just replaced speakers without adding an amp?

I was debating between the infinitys 6020cs and the polks db6501, after listening to them at the store my ears liked the polks better.

First off, underpowered speakers are nothing more than having your volume turned down on your HU. The guy that said replacing your factory speakers doesn't know what he's talking about either. Even the least expensive aftermarket speakers you find will sound much better then the factory ones. As far as the amp goes, you should most definitely upgrade if you have the funds. factory amps are nothing but nice, big heavy paperweights. what speakers were you looking at?

On average, can you trust the installation work at a car stereo shop?

I asked this because my CD player died a few weeks back and a coworker/buddy of mine now only does his own car stereo work since the last time he took his car to a stereo shop they got a bunch of shoe prints on the inside of his door panels and made a few door dings getting in and out of the car all sloppy like. This was at a major car stereo dealer too!

All I want is a replacement CD player put into my car, my speakers are good I need no amp or subwoofer or anything like that. Is it possible to get a new one installed without the installers trashing my dash panel and carving a new gaping hole in things when they should just stick a working CD player in the slot occupied by my dead CD player or am I dreaming of something impossible?
I have a '92 Mercedes with a Sony CD player (now dead) still in it, from the looks of it this one fits right where the factory radio went in way back when. I presume another Sony CD player should fit in just as nicely.

just go to best buy and buy it on your own and install it on your own. its fairly simple. only a couple wires and there are even compatibility kits that make things even easier. its extremely easy to install a car radio.
