Why do I not have any power to the new car stereo I just installed?

Someone told me to run a wire from the stereo to the fuse box; a constant wire? But what does this really mean?

Why wont My car stereo wont turn on when I turn on my car?

The stereo is new and works fine and when i wire it directly from the battery, it works. I checked the fuses in the car and near the motor and they are all fine. The stereo used to work when I turned on my car but I was installing a sound system and something sparked and now it wont work with the ignition switch. Sounds like you burnt something out, but you could wire it directly to your inside fuse panel,Run a wire (hot) to the key side of the radio fuse, use a test lead and check your radio fuse, one side should have power with the key off the other side should light the test light when you turn the key, that's the side you want. Once you find that, connect to power on the headunit. You should be good to go then.
