I have seen Ipod ready and ipod direct control. What is the difference?

I believe that ipod direct control lets you control your ipod from your head unit...you plug your ipod to your head unit...and you can switch songs from your head unit....and ipod ready the only thing you can control from your head unit is the volume....you still have to change songs from your ipod

If a car stereo has a usb port does this mean you automatically get direct ipod control?
I've been looking on amazon for a product with this function but I'm a bit confused by all the technical details. Also does anyone have any advice on the best car stereo for £140 or less?
If a car stereo has a usb port it is not guaranteed to have direct ipod control. The ones that do not have ipod control are usually going to be the cheaper brands such as TKO, Pyle, and such other low quality brands. With the better known brands such as JVC, Kenwood, and Pioneer, having a usb port will more or less mean ipod control. If you go to any website that sells car audio it will say in the description, with something like iPod ready iPod to USB. Here are a few stereos with usb ipod control that are around your price range.

Keep and eye out for stereos that say iPod Ready and do not have an USB port. Ones that just say ipod ready usually means you need to buy an extra adapter which could be cost about $40 to $50 dollars.
